Super Deluxe Clambake: A Healthy And Fun Party Alternative

The clambake has existed for centuries. Native Americans held the first clambakes near New England, which gives us the name New England Clambakes. Since then, they have been a popular tradition for family parties, celebrations, and other occasions. Spring has arrived - why not try one?

Clambakes were initially prepared in a pit dug in the dirt. Native Americans originally made a huge fire in the pit to cook the assorted seafood and vegetables. Stones were positioned at the bottom of the pit to absorb the heat. Layers of corn husks were placed on top of the stones. When the fire was finally reduced to burning ash and embers, they would then put the fresh seafood and vegetables on the very hot stones, separating the layers with fresh seaweed.

Fresh shellfish can be ordered from a variety of locations. There are two ordering alternatives for you for your nutritious and festive clam bake. You can request the standard clambake, which has lobster, clams, chowder and also includes supplies. Or go for something called a super deluxe clambake, which has everything the standard clambake includes plus mussels and/or shrimp, or other fresh shellfish.

For larger gatherings, the super deluxe clambake is a more popular option. Since this type of clambake includes more types of seafood, more guests will be able to find something they like to eat and will be happier. In addition, you’re much less likely to run out of food, even with lots of people.

Clambakes today do not normally follow the old fashioned methods of cooking. Normal clambakes are now done on a grill, stove, and even over a fire pit. For that reason they make great outdoor parties and are great for people that like to camp frequently. In addition the ease of cleaning helps too.

Fresh food, as we all know, is much healthier than processed food, so a healthy atmosphere for you and your party is ensured with a clambake. Since shellfish and other seafood are so very healthy, it also benefits by being fresh. We should remember that clambakes are healthy for us as well as being the epitome of fun and atmosphere.

A healthy alternative that would be good for friends or family in spring are Classic American Clambakes. One should know that the idea behind clambake is positive to intrigue many guests and will be the beginning of many new conversations in the midst of a party.

Evolultion of Video Game Characters

In the early days, and I mean the really early days of home video games, you had Pong: two bars, one square ball and that’s it. It was a very simple concept that anyone could literally figure out within seconds.Even more elementary than that was the fact that there were no characters, no plot, no storyline, no real purpose of the game, except to bump and bash that cubed ball back and forth. While Pong was a nice recreational distraction and diversion from the boredom of everyday life - and back then, Pong was a big deal - there was no real vested interest in the game once the video game system was shut off. Pong was just a video game, and that’s all it would ever be.

Now, today’s video games, like the Microsoft Xbox 360 are more than just toys or things to play. Video games today are events, stories and lives to take interest in and be a part of too. Video game characters, especially, have evolved and grown over the years. Even though Super Mario was cute, he didn’t really instill much emotion in people. He didn’t talk or speak much, he wasn’t very expressive and he was actually quite boring as a person. Heck, in his original solo adventure, he couldn’t even go too far backwards! He was simply the vehicle for which the video game player used to traverse the game.

Now, video game characters, like the ones featured in the Sony PSP are people, with expressions and emotions. They have a history and a purpose. They have a back story, and they are vengeful. They have facial expressions that video game players can relate to. They aren’t just video game characters: they’re tragic heroes and misunderstood villains. They live and work in worlds that are at once foreign to us but recognizable too. Today’s video game characters speak to us, and for us. We want to hear what they say, and see how they act and react. They aren’t just computer generated characters by designers, they are actors, with a script to follow and a mystery to unravel.

The advancement and evolution of video game characters is to be expected, since video games themselves have advanced and evolved. In the old days, video games usually took place in a finite world - that is to say that a video game player could sort of make out and define where and how the game would and should end. That made it easy to distinguish the character’s role. Nowadays, video games often take place in a universe that’s nearly as big and as large as the universe itself. That requires the character in the video game to act and react in ways that we can’t really predict.

Today’s video game characters that live in the Sony PSP can be incredibly likeable and endearing too. With personalities, emotions and phrasing that can really make people laugh and take interest in the character. You can also bet that if a popular video game is released with a powerful and dynamic character, that that character will find himself on the big screen shortly thereafter. While that’s great for media companies looking to make more than just a few extra dollars, it presents a real opportunity to flesh out and give the main character some more depth. Because while today’s video games are impressive in size and scope, they are still, like the Microsoft Xbox 360, video games and they are still limited by its programming and design. But a movie or a TV program can really give new emotions to a character whom in some ways, already seems to be more than human.

Games Magazines: A Great Gift

Whenever a gift opportunity arises, one solution for those with limited time and no talent for wrapping is choosing to give magazine subscriptions. There is a publication for nearly every taste and age, and you can often find great values to give nice presents for little money.

Magazines about games are a great choice since almost everybody enjoys playing some type of game. You can find magazines specific to almost every sort of game you can think of, including board games or high-tech electronic games requiring fancy equipment. You can even find magazines teaching you how to make your own games.

The newsstand isn’t the only place for game magazines. Many magazines are now published in electronic versions. They can often be found in both print and internet editions. Online only subscriptions may be a better deal, giving you a longer subscription than you could afford with paper issues.

It is usually helpful to know what type of games a person likes before choosing games magazines for them. Someone who likes board games and cards will not be interested in the latest game console tricks and tips, while someone who loves video games will not care about how to build a bean bag game. If you are unsure, enlist help from someone who knows them better, or give them an offer that lets the person choose from several titles.

Certain game magazines do not focus on one particular topic. Instead, they can include puzzles, or logic and picture games, while still having sections on electronic and computer games. Other game magazines focus specifically on one game or one device. There are also some magazines that are just word puzzles, which are appreciated by those who enjoy those types of challenges.

Computer game magazines include reviews and tips for better play. Many also have little secrets and tricks known only to the diehard gamer. Some offer discounts or exchanges for game cartridges. An ideal way to choose a magazine is to ask friends who are familiar with games what magazines they recommend based on which is the most useful and informative. The internet also has many magazine reviews you can read, to see what the best and worst choices are.

Gift giving is easier with no wrapping, so magazines are a great choice and they offer a wide variety, so there is one to suit everyone. Games magazines are beneficial because everyone loves games in some capacity. Some offer skill improvement tips, or inform the reader how to make their own gaming equipment. Buy these online for the best variety, and cheaper prices. Be sure to know what kind of gaming your gift recipient likes before ordering them magazine subscriptions. Some magazines have no specialty, some are very specific. Some contain reviews, others are made up of puzzles, the actual games themselves.

Do you know that playing computer games will help you develop your project management skills

The militaries of several countries use computer games and simulations to both educate and coach soldiers and officers in tasks and thought processes connected to their missions and specializations.

This method is moving (slowly) into the corporate world as well, and one of the places where it’s making the greatest inroads is in the realm of decision-making training.

From the viewpoint of training new managers in your own organization, computer games and board games can be used to huge effect, however, there are some downfalls. First, make sure that you’re aware of what goal you’re aiming for - education or guidance? Educational games center on one nested set of decisions and tend to remain fairly abstract.

A high-quality didactic game - focused on project management training for instance - should permit the players to investigate the decision space reflected by that kind of game.

A training simulation is designed to determine how well a student is getting familiar and re-enacting doctrines and training techniques.

Though a first person shooting game, like Doom or Counter Strike is no replacement for rifle training for a soldier, it’s an excellent tool to observe if soldiers have learned about movement, communications, and coordinated actions in an aggressive environment, as the same things that will keep you breathing in the field will keep you breathing in the game - moving from cover to concealment, mobilized over watch, and comparable concepts.

Schooling isn’t just regurgitation of doctrine and training, it’s acquainting of the decision creation processes.

For exedcutives (and officers in the military) there needs to be an emphasis on teaching as well as training.

A good officer should be familiar with the decision creation process of the layer of management that informs to him, and for two levels higher than him.

The equivalent applies to a manager in most businesses.

Furthermore, an officer (or manager) ought to be able to evaluate challenges to his line of actions, be conscious of resources available to him, and with initiative, be capable to deploy those resources without compromising the plans of those higher than him.

When taking lessons from computer games, center on the decision creation loops, and focus on concepts.

While trying to turn computer games into structured schooling for your employees, remember that games are intended to be enjoyable.

Games that aren’t entertaining tend to get negative criticism from the players, and the teaching imparted by them don’t stick.

Focus on how the center concepts of the game will assist your new executives work in your organization, but let them enjoy in what they’re doing - people learn more, and absorb the lessons better, when they’re having enjoyment.

So, the next time you’re trapped playing a computer game in the office, maybe you can defend it as professional development.

Hellgate London Review - Someone Needs to Say It

There was a lot of hype surrounding this game, and plenty of people were eager to play it. The unfortunate thing is that the game, while good, simply doesn’t measure up to the hype.

This online game review will not say that the game was bad, because it wasn’t really that bad. The game was just somewhat ordinary. When a game is built up to be something big and exciting, you start anticipating an off-the-wall fantastic game, or at least something unique.

But there was nothing about this game that was new, incredible, or breathtaking. It was fun, I’ll give it that, and there were some exciting parts to it. It’s a decent game that could have been a GREAT game if the rest of it was a lot more like those parts.

If you have been reading other Hellgate London reviews that say this game is best thing since sliced bread, they were probably paid to say all that. It’s rather like smiling and complimenting your girlfriend or boyfriend instead of telling them that their new hairdo really looks bad, because you’d rather not hurt their feelings.

And on top of all that, the stats kept confusing me to no end. How in the world do you keep track of a dizzying number of weapons, each with its own different damage-inflicting ability? Well, despite that problem, it’s nifty to be able to use a wide variety of attacks.

Another point in the game’s favor that should be noted in this Hellgate London review is that you can now break down items and free up inventory space. That helps make room for all that gold you want to get! Which is about as cool as it gets. Remember, if Hellgate London doesn’t do it for you. There are plenty more games out there.

Guitar Hero Skin Good Looking

The world first heard about RedOctane when they started selling specialized dance pads to support the Dance Dance Revolution games released by Bemani. They combined with Harmonix to produce Guitar Hero. When it came out in 2002, Guitar Hero entered a field dominated by Bemani’s games. They improved upon Bemani’s Guitar Freaks franchise by introducing a modified guitar control system. Guitar Hero became a massive hit, and the new rhythm games genre was swiftly dominated by RedOctane and Harmonix, now parts of Activision and MTV, respectively.

The Guitar Hero controller itself is, like the dance pads which came before it, a viscerally more profound experience than the original from which they were inspired. With its clever mix of catchy riffs and classic rock foot-stompers, the music one could produce through the game (a prerecorded track, though the latest version allow you to develop your own compositions) was a delight to play, and transformed its players into rock masters.

The controller itself is fun to hold - Guitar Hero is typically played standing, with a strap to hold the guitar at about waist level (or just above, if you happen to be especially tall like me) and the fret buttons available for fingering at the left.

The controller’s tactile nature, as well as the immediacy of the game’s content, led to its becoming a party game staple, and in a number of karaoke bars, it has replaced that venue’s more traditional client-produced entertainment. Due to its far-reaching popularity and more acceptance of the title as a social game, people wish to purchase guitar hero skins in order to personalize and improve the look of their own guitar-shaped controllers.

Not long ago, there were rockband skins that were so popular. Lately, we have noticed a similarity in the buying of the Guitar Hero skin, that many guitar players are bringing with them to use while playing at many gigs.

Purchasing a skin for guitar hero controllers has turned into a way to affirmatively influence the visually stimulating game environment already seen in Guitar Hero. Also, new life can be added to the social side of the game by personalizing your guitar hero controller.

RedOctane, famous for Dance Dance Revolution, joined Harmonix to produce Guitar Hero in 2002, with its modified guitar control system. RedOctane and Harmonix (of Activision and MTV) then dominated the new rhythm games genre. The Guitar Hero controller is better than older dance pads. Players become rock masters by producing music through the game’s prerecordings and their own compositions. The Guitar Hero Skin is played standing with strap and fret buttons. The game became popular at parties and Karaoke bars. Players buy skins for Guitar Hero to personalize controllers. Players favor personalizing a skin for Guitar Hero, like RockBand skins, because it improves the game.
